What is VPNCity?
VPNCity is a VPN service that hides information you leave behind on the internet. The real non-abbreviated name of VPN is virtual private network. With a vpn, you can also access pages that are blocked, i.e. pages authorities do not allow you to access. It could be that you live in China where there are a lot of restrictions and you are not even allowed to have Facebook. Or that in Portugal you want to access the latest season on Netflix that has not been released here yet.
Is Vpn City safe?
This company has in their user policy and terms and conditions when you subscribe to a service with them that they do not save any logs. Like all other VPN sites, they use a tunnel that encrypts your traffic and hides your IP address. But if you read through their terms and conditions, they also write very clearly that it is not okay to use their VPN to do illegal things. It says that if you don’t follow the rules (break the law, for example), but it can also be if you register even though you are a competitor to them, the agreement ceases to apply. We have not found information that city vpn would have leaked information about its users.
However, it is clearly stated in the agreement that if the rules are broken, the agreement is broken. For us, it means that they still have some type of log saved that they can access and hand over to third parties or authorities.
We warn you, but you can still make up your own mind here. It all really depends on what you intend to use your VPN for. It is also relevant to consider that if they were to release information, they risk losing their customers. That is the last thing they should want as this is what their entire industry is about.
How much does VPNCITY cost and is there a monthly trial?
There is not a monthly trial but there is a 7-day trial on time.
There is also a 30-day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied.
The next choices available are subscriptions for 1 month, 6 months, 1 year and 2 years. It applies slightly differently to the different subscriptions and we go through them below:
1 month = The price is USD 90 a month and you don’t get a discount on this. You can connect up to 6 devices.
6 months = Here you get a discount and you pay USD 50 a month. You therefore get a 40% discount in terms of price if you choose this length. You pay half-yearly and the total amount will then be around USD 300. Here access to connect 8 devices.
1 year = USD 35 a month it will be this. You pay annually and the sum ends up at USD 400. With this length of subscription, you get a total of 60% off and you can now connect 10 devices.
2 years = USD 25 a month. You will be invoiced every two years with a sum of approx. USD 600. A total of 70% off and you can now connect up to 12 devices!
How many servers does VPN-City have?
They are located in 42 cities and 33 countries. In total there are 3167 servers. In Europe alone there are 24 cities. Here you will find Paris, Stockholm, Oslo, Berlin and Prague, among others. Then they are also found in America, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Oceania. As you can see on their website, there are expected to be more superficial locations shortly. It’s in the same countries, but they add more servers in new cities. Some of the new locations will be Tallinn, Dallas, Bangkok and Cairo. We think it’s great that vpncity is expanding its servers, as this leads to a better connection for us.
Does vpnCITY work for IPTV?
For a VPN to work well for an IPTV, it requires a good connection and fast speed. We tested city vpn together with an IPTV and found the quality to be good. It didn’t lag anything and it was quick to navigate between different countries, TV series, channels and movies. We also connected to other devices at the same time to see what results we would get. It was great to connect to the devices, but got a problem. When we had VpnCity on the phone and on the IPTV, we could watch a movie on both devices. The more devices we connected to, the more it started to lag in the phone’s drive. The conclusion is that it works, but with many devices it can lag a bit.
If you sit at home and use only 2-3 devices connected at the same time, it works perfectly. And frankly speaking, it is difficult for a human being with two hands to work with 10-12 devices at the same time. You probably don’t need to be connected to all of them at the same time.
Does it work on netflix or svtplay?
We of course tested what is the hottest question right now in vpn and what it is used for. If it worked well for Netflix. We started the app vpncity and placed ourselves in Miami. We looked up a series (the 100) that had premiered in the USA but had not released it in Portugal yet. At first we were disappointed when we opened up the seasons and couldn’t find the latest one. It is actually the case that not all VPN services can handle it. It may be that you just need to change the server or which country you are located in. Keep this in mind when choosing a country, to be connected to a relevant country for what you want to search for.
Then we updated the page – lo and behold, it appeared!
We didn’t get access to the full season but that was because after some digging they didn’t release the full season at the same time, and the full season wasn’t finished when we did our test.
We stayed in Miami and instead applied to svt-play. This also worked great, so thumbs up for this!
Does VpnCity have good speed?
As VPNcity does not limit any upload or download speeds and has many servers, we experience a good speed. As with many other VPN sites, it can become a bit slow when you connect to a lot of devices. We don’t see this as a big problem with them. The Internet was fast to surf and when we switch between the different servers, it understands quickly.
Does VPNCity work for xbox?
This is a question that also takes up more space in today’s questions about VPNs. Why vpn for Xbox? Well – to get access to all the games and also the internet of course that you can access through the game. Some games are not available in Portugal, or China if you turn the map a bit. But don’t be sad! If you have a VPN you can access all content (Remember to place yourself on the right server only where you know what you want is available) Vpn city worked and we got access. Easy as pie!
Does vpn-city have a support if problems arise?
Vpncity has a support. We consider them a bit intrusive, but you are made aware of this as soon as you visit their website. When you enter the page, a chat pops up. Here they write that there is a real person behind the screen, ready to help you. If you visit them a little later in the evening, the same box will appear, but they now ask you to write the question and will reply to the email address you enter.
There is no phone number for them but you can reach them at support@vpncity.com.
How do I get started?
To get started, you first need to decide how you want your subscription. We usually advise to start with free periods if this is available or at least take the shortest one. You will have to pay more for the first month, but it may be worth it before committing to a year or two. This is so that you have a chance to navigate around and get to know the site and vpncity better.
You will get to start by registering and paying. After that, you download their app and log in. It’s easy to install everything and you always have a guide to show you the way. You will be able to log in with the same email and password you entered when you registered. The next step is to directly choose where you want to be in a scrolling list.
You are now done, encrypted and ready to visit the internet anonymously!
What payment options are available?
We recommend buying a VPN with Bitcoin currency so that you have a more superficial level of security that makes it harder to track you. VPN CITY does not have this as a payment option, which lowers the rating a bit. What you can pay with is PayPal and credit card.
Can I use it to download?
Yes. Since your IP address will be hidden, you can do this. It’s not illegal to own a VPN, but what you choose to do connected to it might be. What you choose to do next is of course your own decision.
You can absolutely download, but it may be that you need to change servers as you do not get access to all content in all countries. So if it looks like you don’t have access, try changing the server. That’s one of the big reasons why you have a VPN – to get around blocks. But as we mentioned in the first headings above, it’s something you have to keep in mind. It is that VpnCity clearly states in its terms and conditions that if you break the law, as you do when you download, your agreement will be terminated. There is thus a risk that they may disclose information to e.g. the police.
Does vpncity have a kill switch?
VpnCity has a kill switch programmed into its app. Important to point out is that you have to connect this yourself. You do this by opening the app and clicking in the box that you want to activate this function. Why it is not filled in from the beginning is a good question.
Curious about what a killswitch is? It is a function that means that if you lose communication for some reason, this will protect you. It pretends that all content is turned off so you can’t go back in and see what you’ve done.
What does VPNCity get in the final rating?
In our text above, we have openly and honestly assessed and told how vpn city behaves in different situations. So that the speed works well. It can be a bit confusing when you have too many devices connected. However, we only experienced this when we had IPTV. The app is simple, but not in Português. How you can pay and what the price of their services is. These are more facts that are black and white. We who have tested many VPN sites and worked with this for several years want to make a personal assessment of them as well.
As above, we can agree on good speeds and some good functions. VpnCity absolutely works in daily use. We would not recommend them to you who require a little more. Only because of one thing really. They seem desperate!
The homepage has several pop-up windows that come up with information that someone has just bought a subscription. The chat box comes up where they want to get in touch with you. Those of us who visited the page often in connection with this review have also received windows where they want to know why we didn’t buy a subscription in the first place. We believe that this becomes annoying and you lose confidence that they are serious. Big minus is the poorly translated page in Português and that the app is only available in English.
Hope you became a little wiser in your decision about this actor!
