What is SaferVPN?
SaferVPN is a service that encrypts what you do online. This is very common in the military, government and other companies that do not want hackers to be able to access their content. It has become more common for private individuals to use a VPN to protect themselves online. It is easy to access personal information about you on open networks. Examples of this are at playgrounds, airports or cafes. If you are sitting in a café and shopping online, fraudsters can access your account details.
A VPN protects you and makes you safer online. You can also use a VPN to access blocked content in other countries or book cheaper trips. It is known today that the travel companies charge more for a trip when we in Europe book, as we by default have higher incomes than in Africa. If you use a vpn to place yourself in a server located in Africa, the travel company will see where you are and give you a better price – just so you can book a trip at all. The same applies if you e.g. would like to book in advance to rent a car on your trip. This company also has algorithms that detect where you are, thus adjusting the price.
¿Cuál es el valor de SaferVPN?
On SaferVPN’s website we find information that they do not track your activity, or have access to your real IP address. It’s like when you get a VPN, you will be thrown into something called tunnels and different servers. In these servers, your IP address is mixed with lots of other people’s and you will be assigned a completely different one. This makes it basically impossible for authorities to track down your real IP address.
This guarantees SaferVPN when you sign up with them that they don’t log:
the IP address
Your SOURCE IP address
Your browsing history
Your DNS (Domain Name System) queries will return on this.
Your personal data
Your metadata
Many new VPN owners or those thinking about getting one think a lot about what it all means. In order for you to understand the statements above, we would like to explain them to you.
DNS = Dns is an abbreviation of Domain Name System. It may be that you create a website. Let’s say www.låtsashemsidan50.se. When you get this website, it will also get some kind of IP address, and then you will have your own IP address depending on the device you are using. This is done in order for communication to work from your domain to your device.
Metadata = Metadata is actually a “new” concept instead of saying data about data, or information about information. Think of it like this: You
How much does SaferVPN cost?
SaferVPN has a price that does not differ much from the other VPN services.
We do not feel that they stand out in any direction. They are neither expensive nor especially cheap.
At SaferVPN you can choose 3 different types of subscription.
1 month, 1 year or 3 years.
The longer you sign up for a subscription, the bigger the discount you get, which we think is good.
What drags them down a bit is that it jumps like that from 1 month to 1 year. On some other vpn services you can sometimes also choose 3 months. With that time span, we think that you really have time to feel how satisfied you are, before choosing the full 3 years.
The prices look like the following:
1 month costs you 130 kroner and you then get no discount.
1 year costs USD 60 a month, a total of about USD 700 and is billed every 12 months.
The 3-year subscription costs only USD 30 a month, you are charged every 36 months, but in this period you get a total of 81% discount!
How many servers does SaferVPN have?
SaferVPN is available in 50 countries with 1300 servers. We think the number of countries and the number of servers is good. We have also dived deeper to see which countries they have chosen to locate themselves in and where the servers are located. This is one of the overriding factors for a VPN service to work well and quickly.
We have put together a top 10 list for the countries we think are particularly good locations when it comes to VPN servers. These usually do not mean problems and the speeds maintain an even and stable standard overall.
Japanese
USA (streaming)
Norway
Portugal
France
Italy
Australia
Costa Rica
UK
Belgium
All of these are therefore included in SaferVPN’s list of places you can place yourself.
Does SaferVPN work for IPTV?
When we tested SaferVPN, we were really lucky to be able to test the service both in Portugal and in Malaysia. This when one of us was away on a business trip and then of course tested this service there as well. We at VPNS also tested other VPN services such as RusVPN and NordVPN.
You can read more about it on our page “compare VPN services” and “VPN reviews”
SaferVPN worked very smoothly together with IPTV both in Portugal and in Malaysia. There were no problems connecting or connecting to the server. We also didn’t experience it slowing down the speed it can do and start to bug. We tested in both countries to change the server several times, which also worked perfectly. It can usually take up to 10 seconds to connect to a server, but in both countries it took under 7 seconds.
We think it feels safe that it worked as well as it did when you want to use a VPN when using an IPTV. It is basically impossible to track you, so sit back and enjoy the range of channels in peace and quiet! Please keep this in mind: IPTV is not legal in Portugal, but having a VPN is. And what does a VPN do? Protects you from being tracked.
Does it work on netflix or svtplay?
SaferVPN found content on both Netflix and Svtplay that is blocked if you are in the wrong country. The disadvantage is that when you want to connect, they want to take you to a nearby server. It is easy for you to end up in your own country, like here in Portugal. Get into the habit of checking this when you want to watch series on Netflix that are not released in Portugal. It is easy to be deceived that you do not have access, but you must therefore switch to the country in which the series is available.
Does SafeVPN have good speed?
When we check if a VPN has good speed, we first want to make sure that we ourselves have it on our internet provider. Many websites promise very good speed and so on, but there are some steps you have to keep an eye on to check off your own first.
The speed of your own internet connection is highly relevant. If you have a bad provider, your VPN subscription will not be able to save you.
Server selection – choosing a server on the other side of the globe will affect your speed. The further away your chosen server is from your physical location, the longer the encrypted tunnel. It logically takes longer to travel 1 mile than 1 kilometer.
Number of people on the same server – also logical. The more people who use the same server, the slower the speed. However, SaferVPN has greater server bandwidth, which means you are guaranteed faster speeds.
Settings choice – what settings you choose in your app is also relevant what speed you get. Check this carefully if you experience slow speed. On SaferVPN, they have an auto-populated setting from the start that should give you the best speeds.
When we tested the service, we checked the settings. Here we actually found a flaw. In their automatic settings, you will immediately end up in a server near you. This means that many people will end up in the same server and crowded. In that team, it can actually be good to change. We switched from Portugal to Norway and immediately got a higher speed.
How many devices can I connect?
SaferVPN has so you can connect up to 5 of your devices. There are VPNs for Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, QNAP, Anonabox, Blackphone as well as VPNs for TVs and routers.
On the website there are manuals on how to install their VPN on the various devices. All the different ones have their own VPN app.
Does SaferVPN have support if problems arise?
There is a support on their website. Among other things, there is a chat on that immediately comes up when you visit their website. Another good thing is that they have quick start guides for different devices and systems on their website as well that can help you.
There is also a contact form you can fill in. There you need to enter an e-mail address to receive a reply. For us, it took 2 days to get a response from them, which we thought was a bit too long. Here, you want quick help when problems arise. Especially since there is no phone number to reach SaferVPN on.
How do I get started?
The first thing you will need to do is pay for a subscription. Here you fill in an e-mail and some other information. When you pay, you will receive login details to your email. Then download their app. Install the app (very easy, just follow the instructions) Then you’re good to go.
What you do now is that you choose a country you want to be in. It can e.g. be the USA if you would like to try to see a series you cannot access in Portugal. It could also be to place yourself in Portugal if you are visiting China, where you will not have access to your Facebook. Then select a server. The app will tell you that you are connected and now you can surf the web anonymously, as well as access blocked websites.
What payment options are available?
At SaferVPN there are two different payment options. You can choose to pay with PayPal or with your debit/credit card.
It’s a shame that you can’t choose to pay with Bitcoin, as we know from experience that many people ask for this. It makes some people feel more confident that it is even harder to track you down. Keep in mind that it is not illegal to own a VPN. What you then choose to use it for is up to you, however, the laws in each country still apply. We think a big reason is that many people use downloads and therefore want to be able to buy their VPN subscription with encrypted currency.
Can I use it to download?
Yes. Because your data is encrypted and your IP address is hidden.. Important to know is that it is not illegal to have a VPN as we mentioned above. What you choose to do next is of course your own decision. It may be that you need to change servers as you do not get access to all content in all countries. That’s one of the big reasons why you have a VPN – to get around blocks.
Does SaferVPN have a kill switch?
Yes, SaferVPN has a kill switch.
A kill switch means that if for some reason you lose the connection, it will not release your IP address. SaferVPN’s kill witch means that all internet traffic will be shut down should you be kicked out. This means that you can safely get connected and can connect again without being afraid that your IP address has been leaked.
A small minus
A small minus for us is that it is only possible to have up to 5 units at the same time. In Portugal, it is so common today to use several devices per household. In many cases, you have a private phone, a work phone, one or two computers, a smartphone, a tablet and so on. You should also not forget that you can use a VPN for your router or IPTV. That’s why we like to request VPN services to which more devices can be connected. Especially when we start from Portugal.
What does SaferVPN get in the final rating?
In the final grade, we still have to make an assessment that there are several things to develop. Overall, SaferVPN works as expected and the speed is just fine. We feel safe with them, as we never once lost contact. It was possible to connect where we wanted and worked well to use even when traveling (In Malaysia)
What we would like to see developed is of course being able to connect more units. That it is not automatic where you should place yourself. It’s actually a good thing, but many people miss this. If it is missed, it is thought that you do not have access to all pages. It is very important and we think they can at least clarify this for new users.
We would have liked to see encrypted currencies as a payment option for those who do not want to pay with an account, credit card or PayPal. As well as a choice of subscription for 3 months. It’s a bit too big a gap to go from 1 month to 1 year.
Hope this will help you a little on the way when choosing your VPN service.
